studying for spelling tests really pay off

Ashlea has gotten an A+ on every spelling test she has taken. Her teacher gives her bonus words which are harder than the rest of the class. There are usually 2 other kids that get the spelling words she gets.

Ice Cream and spelling before piano lesson

On Wednesdays I pick Ashlea up from school and we have an hour to spend in Clay Center before going to her piano lesson at 4:30. We usually go somewhere and study her spelling words for the test on Thursdays. My favorite place to go is Danny's. Ashlea and I both like their salads. Today was special because 2 of her friends were there.
Jillian and Aspen. They asked if Ashlea could go with them to get an ice cream next door. Of course I said yes. So she ate ice cream first then her salad. Jillian's dad is Danny and it was his treat.

Stray Cats and a Unicorn

Last night Ashlea's baton group performed at half time at the girls high school basketball game. This morning she wanted me to get an icecicle that was hanging down in the patio. She said look at me, I'm a unicorn

NO cavities

Ashlea had a dentist appointment. She had her teeth cleaned and a check-up. She looked over and thought she saw a needle on the tray, which scared her. No needle, no cavities and had a great check-up. She got a new tooth brush and tooth paste.

Chef Ashlea

A couple of years ago Christie made an apron for Ashlea. This year for Christmas she gave her a cook book. We have made a few of the recipes. Smart cookies, torn tortilla casserole, and today Ashlea made lasagna, it was different because you did not cook the lasagna noodles before baking.

fun in the pool

girls in the pool

A fun time was had by all.

AnnaLeah spent the night Friday night so she could go swimming with us on Saturday. We had so much fun last time we decided to go again but we did not stay in the hotel. We were able to get a day pass from Impact sports and fitness in Abilene. Rylee, Lanie, Ashlea and AnnaLeah all had fun plus they met a girl at the pool who was 9. They each brought their own lunch and was able to eat when they got hungry. They were treated to ice cream from Dairy Queen on the way home.

It looks like the groundhog was right and winter is still here. Ashlea is very sweet and shoveled the snow from our sidewalk this morning before I took her to school.

Girls can be so mean and so nice

This little girl Hannah told a boy in Ashlea's class that she had a crush on him. That made Ashlea feel kinda embarrassed. Here is a picture of them after Hannah apologized and said she would not do it again.

After school she had baton lessons so here is a picture of her and Allyson playing and having fun together just before her group lesson.

Stylin

Ashlea's class was going to have a party at school because all the students each read 3 books in January. She was excited to wear her new boots as there was no PE today. She got up early and we curled her her with the curling iron to give it the soft curls.
